“The AKG N60NC Wireless are a Travelers Favorite”
Alright, most headphones try to have a great sound as well as the ability to be transportable. The AKG N60NC Wireless headphones geared toward portability first and then comes the look, feel and sound. It’s clear that AKG has heard our cries about bulky headsets and has aimed to remedy it.
When opening this package the earphones kind of slide out sideways like a drawer presenting you with a smooth compact pouch. The top of the pouch flips back like a Pez candy dispenser opening out to reveal a very premium designed pair of headphones. They weigh in at about 200g, and the AKG branding logos are present on the outside of both earcups dawning a very nice polished finish on them as well I must say.
When it comes to the earcups design well they bolster an on ear build made with supple protein leather that reduces the noise and creates a perfect sound stage. The AKG N60NC Wireless headband is extremely flexible, the earcups rotate and it can stretch to fit a pretty wide range of head sizes. On the inside of the headband near the hinges you have your left and right markings.
On the outside of the headband you have the NC60 wireless branding also near the hinges. On the right side you have a toggle switch to engage noise cancelling and Bluetooth, and a little further over you have another switch that skips tracks forward and backward which was extremely helpful when you have your phone in your pocket along with the volume up and down buttons.
The other side you have a USB port for easy charging and a 3.5mm port. The headband adjuster has a nice little visible feature built into it for better sizing accuracy. There are little numbers that show up as you push the slider up and down, so once you find your comfort level all you have to do is engage your number and you will have a perfect fit every time.
In the display box after removing the headphones, you are presented with the instructions and the airplane jack neatly incased. As far as airplane jacks go this is in no mistake the best looking one I’ve ever seen. When AKG said they geared this headset toward the traveler they weren’t lying. This jack looks and feels premium in your hands and it rocks this beautiful brushed chrome finish that is quite pleasing to the eye.
It also has a 3.5mm audio jack with inline microphone that has the same chrome finish with the AKG branding on it. On the back of the inline mic you have one button that does everything, answer and end calls, skip forward and backward to scroll through music tracks.
I was anxious to put the AKG N60NC Wireless headphones to the test after seeing the build quality. I have to admit I expected these babies to sound absolutely beautiful and to no surprise….they did! They sounded phenomenal, you get really deep bass with a little bit of punch to it but not enough to drown out the music. The highs are crisp but not ear popping and the mids are deep warm and clean. The sound they produce is amazing.
Also these things get really loud, I couldn’t even listen to them on the highest volume level. All of the sound is really well balanced and thought out. AKG has really fine tuned these earphones in every way, they both have a really solid look and feel to them. They are outfitted with the aptX and aac technology which doesn’t skip a beat and makes the sound quality sound gorgeous over Bluetooth. They boast a 15 hour battery life with both Bluetooth and noise cancelling turned on and 30 hours with just active notice cancelling turned on.
When it all comes down to it the AKG N60NC Wireless headphones are hands down no brainer. Coming in at a price point of just $299.00. The feel, design and sound that they offer are something more than beautiful and is worth every penny. If you have an itch for something along the lines of simple with a little more advanced Fuctionality for around the same price check out the Sony MDR1000x.
